Welcome to the Research Information System (RIS) of the University of Cologne

The University of Cologne is one of the oldest and largest universities in Europe. It stands for cutting-edge research across a wide range of disciplines. Interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative approaches characterize the scientific projects and contribute to solving global challenges. The high quality of research is evidenced by numerous publications, international collaborations, and recognized awards. Due to its outstanding scientific achievements, it enjoys an excellent international reputation.

The Research Information System (RIS) of the University of Cologne offers a comprehensive overview of current projects, publications, and scientific activities. As a central database, it consolidates all research information of the university, presents it in a compact form, and keeps it continuously up-to-date. The goal is to make research achievements more visible through context-specific presentation and to provide data in accordance with the specifications of the Core Data Set on Research. Additionally, the FIS relieves researchers of their documentation and reporting tasks and supports them in the external presentation of their scientific expertise. Through the central FIS portal, content from the FIS can be made accessible to the general public and visible beyond the University of Cologne. With the introduction of the FIS and the FIS portal, the University of Cologne acknowledges the growing importance of data-driven processes in national and international competition.
