The overall project goal is the introduction of a Research Information System (RIS) at the University of Cologne. The RIS functions as a comprehensive internal database on research information of the following data areas:

• Employees
• Promotion of young scientists
• Third-party funds and finances
• Patents and spin-offs
• Publications
• Research infrastructures

Once the research information has been integrated into the RIS, the scientists' research achievements and activities are made visible and accessible for the public via a portal solution. All research information will be continuously updated.

Project Value

• Improving the ability to provide information and external appearance of the research activities and achievements of all scientists at the University of Cologne
• Conducting efficient data analyses according to KDSF standard as well as automated data integration
• Increasing the quality and timeliness of research reports for both internal and external purposes
• Identifying research areas with high potential as well as focus areas
• Broadening the basis for strategic decision-making by university leadership as well as faculty leadership
